Waxing Information & Aftercare

Facial & body waxing with soft wax

The following reactions after a waxing treatment are perfectly normal temporary reactions that should subside within 24-48 hours.

Slight soreness

small bumps and redness

during the next 24-48 hours;

Keep the area clean and avoid heat and friction

Avoid very hot showers, baths, steam rooms, saunas, jacuzzis, swimming pools

Avoid massage treatments

Avoid deoderant or perfumed products and makeup

Avoid tight clothing

I recommend your next appointment to be 4-6 weeks after treatment.

Most people find that the hair will start to re grow within 7-10 days following treatment. It will take up to 4 treatments spaced evenly apart for the hair to get on the same growth cycle to give best results. This means that after around the 4th treatment, the area will stay smoother in between your appointments.

I recommend waxing every 4-6 weeks as this is before the roots fully develop, so you will have less pain and will easily maintain your smooth appearance, over a prolonged period of time the hair will appear thinner when re growing.

Kim Lawless "Wax Queen" Brazilian Waxing

I pride myself on giving a "proper" brazilian / Hollywood wax. Many salons claim, but fail to give a thorough wax with the results, products and experience not being its very best. This is why I decided to train with the very best, Kim Lawless "Wax Queen"

Why wax?

Waxing removes the hair from right at the root, meaning the hair will grow back much slower than if you were to remove the hair any other way. the hair will not grow back thicker, it will grow back with a tapered tip instead of being blunt, meaning it will give a finer appearance, and give a smoother finish for longer.

What makes this wax different from tradional strip wax?

traditional strip wax it what will be used if you were to have your legs waxed, its put on with a spatula, then removed with a paper or fabric strip which is put on top of the wax. Strip wax is brilliant for waxing legs and other areas, however it can be very painful and not as effective for intimate areas.

Stripless wax/ Hot wax/ Hard wax is what i use for Brazillian waxing, it encapsulates the hair only, without sticking to the skin, giving a much more comfortable wax. I find it removes the hair easier, giving much better results as well as being alot kinder to the skin. No sticky residue is left, and you will feel no pain immediately after being waxed. Many salons dont use this kind of wax for their intimate waxing, but I can not stress the difference, in terms of the actual treatment, and the results it gives.

I use "Perron Rigot" wax for Brazilian waxing which is one of the highest quality waxes which will help to minimise the breakage of hair, making sure its fully removed from the root, and reducing ingrown hairs. This is also the same wax that is currently used by the "wax Queen "herself Kim Lawless.

Who is this "Wax Queen you keep talking about?

Kim Lawless is reguarded as a leading authority on waxing in the UK. Students travel across the globe to be trained by her and clients travel hours to be waxed by her!

Kim is the only waxer that has formed her own technique for brazillian waxing which ensures the absolute best results.

Im lucky enough to be trained by her, and to have been taught her very unique method, which ensures an extremely thorough wax, for silky smooth results, so you can rest assured you are in good hands, ive been trained by the best!

So what actually happens when I arrive for my appointment?

Now heres the important part...

If you are having any wax, other than the basic bikini, you will be asked to remove your clothing from the waist down. I will not be able to complete the wax if you are not willing to do this as I will not be able to give the highest standard of results, and it will no longer be a Kim Lawless style of waxing.

I know this can be vey daunting, but I try to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible, so if you have any questions at all prior to or after your treatment then please feel free to contact me.

firstly I will prep the area , then I will apply the wax in sections, wait a few seconds for it to set and remove. A brand new spatula will be used each time its dipped into the wax pot, (we DO NOT double dip) for hygeine reasons. After the wax I will apply a soothing oil to the skin.

Please make sure you are not wearing special clothes as products or oil may transfer although quite unlikely) from the skin onto clothing, loose casual clothing is best.

If you have booked a Hollywood or Brazilian, I will remove hairs from the back, underneath, and front, meaning i will need to ask you to move into different positions, this is necessary to ensure a thorough wax is achieved, so please be prepared for this.

What do I do before me appointment?

You will need to make sure that you have at least 3 weeks growth, if your last method of hair removal was shaving, or at least 4 weeks of growth if your last method of hair removal was waxing. if it has been much longer than that, you may want to trim the hairs to around half an inch before your appointment.

Please arrive to your appointment at your arranged time, clean and ready to be waxed. If you are new to waxing, it may take around 2-3 regular waxes spaced 4 weeks apart, before you completely get rid of the stubbly regrowth, as the hairs will all be on the same growth cycle. After this time you will be smoother for longer between waxes, continued waxing encourages slower, sparser regrowth. Clients who have reuarly shaved prevously may have slightly more discomfort on their first wax as the hairs will be much stronger and have a larger bulb at the base of the hair shaft, this will subside afer around 2-3 waxes.

What do I do after my appointment?

For the first 24 hours after being waxed, please avoid really hot baths or showers, sun, perfumed products, chlorinated pools, gym, spas, saunas, steam rooms, as these may irritate the skin. Ensure you keep the area clean and avoid touching. Redness and small bumps are normal after waxing., these symptoms should subside after 24 hours.

2 days after your wax, gently exfoliate the area to prevent ingrown hairs, and apply a small amount of baby oil to the area straight after getting out of the shower while the skin is still damp, then continue to exfoliate and moisturise the area 2 to 3 times a week. Some people are just prone to ingrown hairs but prevention is better than cure.

Itchiness 2 or 3 weeks after waxing is caused by the new hair breaking through the follicle, only people with coarse hair who have been shaving for a while are usually prone to this, and it usually occurs after the first few waxing treatments when all hairs are on the same growth cycle and are breaking through the skins surface together for the first time. Regular exfoliating of the skin will  prevent dead skin cells from clogging the follicle and use of an anti histamine cream can be used to soothe. itching usually lasts less than 2 days.

Just remember this can be seen as a good sign as it means past this point, the hairs should be noticably finer, and grow back much slower, meaning you may be able to go longer between your waxing appointments.
